Introduction to Mother Tantra
Former resident lama of Shenten Dargye Ling and current Khenpo of Yeshe Sal Ling in Austria, Lama Sangye Monlam, will start a series of comprehensive teachings on the Ma Gyud (Mother Tantra) at Shenten Dargye Ling this year. In 2020 he will cover the chapter, Tharlam, The Way of Escape, that is, escape from the suffering in samsara. The chapter contains the fundamental practice of gong choe nam sum (Integration with the enlightened mind of Lama, Yidam, Khandro), a sadhana that tantric practitioners of Ma Gyud recite every day.
In addition to explaining how to perform the prayer, Lama Sangye will talk about various aspects of the Lama-student relationship. The Tharlam chapter also contains a practice for clearing obscurations, drib-sel, and a section on mandala offerings, but those parts will probably not be completed this year.
The cycle will continue with the chapter of Drol-lam, The Way of Liberation, concerning methods for entering into natural state. After Tharlam and Drom-lam, Lama Sangye will continue with the six methods, or six yogas, of the Ma Gyud: Tsa-lung (Tummo), Phowa, dream yoga, Chod, teachings on bardo, and maybe sleep yoga.
