Shenten 2021 Program

March 20th - 21st : Tibetan magical movements or yoga with Geshe Lungrig

The three main dzogchen cycles as well as "The Mother tantra" all include "yoga" practices. In the "Natural Arising of the Three Enlightened Bodies" Shardza Trashi Gyaltsen combined "yoga" practices from the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu and Atri cycles into a practical format.


April 4th until April 9th - Dzogchen practice and teaching retreat with Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche.

  • We are delighted that Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche has accepted to open a new cycle of dzogchen teachings, ‘The Golden Instruction of Dranpa Namkha’ (Dranpa Serdam).

  • The Golden Instruction of Dranpa Namkha’ is a complete practice manual for dzogchen practice in its own right. It includes instructions on the preliminaries, main practice, ‘inner fire’, and others.

  • As always there will be ample opportunity to put into practice what we learn.


April 11th until April 16th - introductory course on the preliminary practices with Geshe Samten

  • Particularly useful for those who are new to the teaching and wish to prepare to participate in dzogchen retreats.

  • The week is practice oriented.


May 2nd until May 14th - meditation retreat combined with chulen practice

  • The first week we will receive the teaching on chulen or taking the essence of the elements while not taking coarse food. The second week we will actually put it into practice.

  • We will follow the daily schedule designed by Yongdzin Rinpoche with four sessions of Dzogchen meditation and the four offerings each day.

  • Good preparation for the week retreat with Ponlop Tsangpa Tendzin Rinpoche.


May 16th until May 21st - practice and teaching on the main practice of Dzogchen with Ponlop Tsangpa Tendzin Rinpoche (tentative)

  • In 2016 Ponlop Tsangpa Tendzin Rinpoche started to teach from the Gyalwa Chagtri, the practice manual for Dzogchen practice in the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu. This year Ponlop Rinpoche will continue to teach the chapter on the result from the same text.

  • The week will be practice oriented.



May 27th until May 30th - Teaching on and practice of ‘The Mother tantra’ with Lama Sangye

  • The Mother tantra’ is one of the main practices of our beloved founder Yongdzin Rinpoche.

  • It is a key text in the bon tradition and many of our core idea’s and practices are based on this tantra. It includes the six practices of ‘inner fire’, body offering, consciousness transference, dream yoga, sleep yoga, and intermediate state.

  • Lama Sangye started to teach ‘The Mother tantra’ online in 2020. The intention is for Lama Sangye to teach all the aspects of the whole cycle over the course of this multiyear program.


??? June 20th until July 9th – duration three weeks? two weeks? program on Tibetan cultural aspects with Khenpo Gelek Jinpa

July 17th and July 18th - Self healing of wind-energy (lung) disturbances with Geshe Dennyi (to be confirmed) and Amchi Nyima. Biography?

  • When we meditate intensively we can develop wind-energy imbalance that can become an obstacle for the development of our practice. Wind-energy imbalance can also be caused by wrong diet, excessive worry etc.

  • During this weekend Geshe Dennyi and Amchi Nyima will explain the nature, causes and conditions, symptoms, and diagnosis of wind-energy problems as well as ways to heal ourselves through diet, medicine, exercise, and practice.

  • This will be the first time Geshe Dennyi visits Shenten. Since his graduation in 2000 ??? Geshe Dennyi has been the manager of the Medical Institute at Triten Norbutse.


July 19th until 24th Karma yoga retreat

  • Before the start of the summer retreat (to be worked out by council).


July 25th until August 13th - ‘The Six Lamps’ from the ‘The Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu’.

  • We are happy to announce that Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche has accepted to teach ‘The Six Lamps’ during the summer retreat.

  • We will receive transmission and teaching from Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche in the morning, and

  • in the afternoon we will put the instructions into practice under the guidance of the lamas of Shenten Dargye Ling.


People are invited to either participate either for the full retreat or during the week they feel is most suitable to their requirement or interest.


August 22nd until August 27th - Dzogchen meditation practice retreat with Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung

  • Teachings from the ‘Experiential Transmission’ of the ‘Zhang Zhung Nyan Gyu’.

  • Emphasis on meditation practice.


September 4th until November 11th - Second of the Meditation School(Gomdra) with Khenpo Gelek Jinpa
