Dzogchen meditation practice
In this retreat, the head teacher of Triten Norbutse Monastery, Pönlop Tsangpa Tenzin Rinpoche, will continue teaching based on the manual of Gyalwa Chaktri of Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu, which is one of the most treasured Dzogchen cycles in Yungdrung Bön Tradition. Gyalwa’i Chaktri is perhaps the most widely used practice manual of Dzogchen teaching in Yungdrung Bön. It was composed by Dru Gyalwa Yungdrung, a 13th century master. This year, Pönlop Rinpoche will continue the part of Principal Practices, specifically the chapter of Progressive Stages of the Guiding Explanation of the Meditation Practice for the Clear Light, focused on the practice of Thögal. This chapter explains how to practice meditation, how to remove obstacles to meditation, and also how visions develop with practice. Thögal is an advanced practice in Dzogchen, but the retreat is open to everyone sincerely interested in this teaching, even beginners.
Pönlop Tsangpa Tenzin has been serving as the main teacher of Triten Norbutse Monastery since 2004. In addition to Shenten Dargye Ling, Pönlop Rinpoche teaches in Paris and Marseille, France, Chamma Ling in Wilga, Poland, and in the Netherlands and Austria. Since 2014, he has been teaching once a year at Shenten Dargye Ling. A growing number of western students appreciate his clear and perfectly understandable exposition of the teaching, rooted in the teacher´s personal qualities of uprightness, sharp intelligence, and keen dedication to practice.
