The Six Essential Points of Bodhicitta
Khenchen Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche
July 24th until August 12th
The Six Essential Points of Bodhicitta are included in the Oral Transmissions of Zhang Zhung (Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyü). The teachings were transmitted in an unbroken lineage from the Buddha to the present day. For many generations, masters transmitted them orally to their disciples. The twenty-fifth Master of that transmission lineage, Tapiritsha, realised Rainbow Body and returned in the form of a small boy. He then taught Nangzher Lödpo and allowed him to write the teachings down. It was first noted in the Zhang Zhung language and later translated into Tibetan.
As Bodhicitta refers to the pure and perfect mind, the six key points are essential instruction on Dzogchen, the Great Perfection.
The six key points are:
The key point of recognising the base of all; the key point of self-arising self-awareness within oneself;
the key point of recognising the transparent primordial wisdom originating from the path;
the key point of directly seeing the self-awareness,
the key point of the certainty in the practice of the three enlightened states (Sambogakaya, Nirmanakaya, Dharmakaya), and
the key point of how the states of Samsara and Nirvana manifest themselves.
Khenchen Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche, a highly esteemed teacher from Triten Norbutse Monastery in Kathmandu and an experienced teacher, will translate the text and elaborate on the meaning of the words.
