Our beloved master and the lineage holder of the Yungdrung Bön doctrine, and especially the single lineage holder of the Zhang Zhung Nyengyud, Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche has taught during many years authentic dzogchen texts according to the Bön tradition in western countries. When he established Shenten Dargye Ling in 2005, his sincere wish was to offer an opportunity for westerners to practice dzogchen in the traditional way. For that purpose he built the special thögal retreat house in 2010 together with Khenchen Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche. 

 

The thögal retreat house has been blessed by His Holiness the 33rd Menri Trizin Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche, Yongdzin Rinpoche, and His Holiness the 34th Menri Trizin Dawa Dargyal Rinpoche. Last year Yongdzin Rinpoche gave a special name for the house upon Khenpo Gelek’s request: MUNNANG WOSAL KHANG, the House of Luminous Visions

 

Until now many practitioners have accomplished the 49-day-thögal-retreat, and experienced also retreats of some days or weeks before starting the seven-cycle-practice of Clear Light according to the Oral Transmission of the Zhang Zhung Nyengyud. It is worth noting that the 49-day-practice of Clear Light is instructed and guided only at Shenten. Shenten lamas do special prayers in the traditional way in the beginning and end of the retreat. The lama gives every week instructions for the practice and he also visits once in a while to give new instructions.

 

All in all, the conditions for the personal thögal retreat at Shenten are excellent: the house has three separate retreat rooms with own bathrooms, and meals are served three times a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
